Springfield, IL (March 15, 2010) – The Danville Jaycees are holding a membership drive the week of April 11. Meet members of the Danville Jaycees at 6:30 pm, April 15th and learn more about this exciting organization with a proud history. The membership drive is being held in conjunction with the United States Junior Chamber (Jaycees) 90th anniversary.

A volunteer organization for men and women between the ages of 18 and 41, the Jaycees promote individual and leadership development and personal growth through service to others. Since 1920, the organization has been a force for good in America and around the world. Jaycees helped establish AirMail services, and have raised millions of dollars for causes such as the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Muscular Dystrophy Association, and March of Dimes. The Jaycees have built parks, playgrounds, hospitals, run community festivals, donated monies to local charities and conducting support programs in local communities. Notable Jaycees include past U.S. Presidents Bill Clinton and Gerald Ford and sports legend Larry Bird.

With more than 2,500 members, the Illinois Jaycees boast more than 85 local chapters. Illinois is the state with the most members in the US.

“By joining the Jaycees, you are making a substantial investment in your future,” said Kathy Crick, the 79th Illinois Jaycees President. “The Jaycees provide an opportunity not only for members to improve themselves personally, but also help their community in the process. Our goal is to continue to grow and I’m excited about what we can accomplish together in 2010.”
